Album Notes
MC MJD has a knack of being able to tell a story with a sense of desperation in his flow. And do you know why it’s a knack? Because he has you hanging on every lyric, every rhyme and you genuinely believe in the words he is delivering.

The magic in ‘My Promise To You’ is that whilst he’s relaying a painful story about his grandparents passing, it’s layered over a blend of acoustic guitar, strings and keyboard. The underlying melody is calming, giving you a feeling that MC MJD’s story has some hope behind it, that he will get through his dark moments.

I listened to this track more than one dozen times. Each and every time two things stood out; the angelic melody line of the acoustic guitar and MC MJD’s lyrics. The acoustic guitar really is the stand out musically in this track. Props to DJ Duskmuffin who’s credited to creating the music. MC MJD is a talented lyricist and there’s no doubt he can deliver verses effortlessly.

The recording and mixing by Adam Boon should be noted as well. It's a fine effort and brings all elements of the track together beautifully.
