Nonso Okpala a.k.a Mc Soprano is a promising young singer, music producer and songwriter based in Canada. He was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to Canada to further his education. Mc Soprano known for his smooth and laid back flow has been making a lot of noise in the Canadian underground music scene. Mc Soprano has also been credited for writing for various artists including some ghostwritten efforts for a few artists.
He kicked off his first music project in 2011 when he recorded his first track “ My Life” with Canadian producer Kenny Louis.The song gained alot of recognition as a lot of people were able to relate to the song. After the project, he took a break from the music due to some personal family issues. Meanwhile he was still writing songs for other artist and himself. The name Mc Soprano was formed while mcing for a former Ontario based DJ.
In 2011, Mc Soprano, who had previously ruled out a career in music, had a change of heart after his song won the 2012 Alberta Summer Games Contest where he performed in front of 8000 – 10,000 people with his group “Steady Motions,” which has now earned the playful nickname "the Black Eyed Peas of Canada". After this, friends and family members recognized his music talent and urged him to take his music to the next level. It was then that Mc Soprano began to reach out to several music producers to help transform his natural abilities and artistic ideas into top quality songs.
Mc Soprano describes his genre of music as Zouk, Hip-hop, R&B & Afro-beat; a fusion of African traditional music. His choice of genre came due to his love for chill music with great rhythm. Also his African roots made a great impact as he grew up listening to artist like Fally Ipupa & 2face. He is not currently signed to any record label, all evidence to date suggest that this young crooner, blessed with an uncanny ability to effortlessly deliver catchy and meaningful lyrics, has a bright future ahead of him.
