ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Blossoms is a poem by Merrill Collins, illustrated with a dozen gorgeous photos of roses by Yvon Chausseblanche and 9 tracks of soothing and uplifting music inspired by the beauty of the rose.

What would roses sound like if they could sing? Merrill's new composition captures perfect relation of a blossom to the sun, greeting, welcoming, following, waiting. Harmonizes the environment, just as fresh flowers themselves do. Simply ethereal...a healing musical expression of nature's unconditional love.

Released in January, 2007, Merrill renders celestial melodies and nature sounds inspired by morning meditations in the Rose Garden and in the countryside. Featuring Merrill Collins on Steinway grand piano and harp/keyboards; Charles Moselle on bansuri flutes and shakahatchi; Bruce Mishkit on silver flute; Mike Knapp on 'cello. Nature sounds and Rose blossom photos by Yvon Chausseblanche.

Take time to smell the roses!

Blossoms
My new favorite album to bring forward that deep inner peace. The first three songs do it for me. The interplay of piano, flute, and cello are especially exquisite as in "To Plant My Heart's Wish". A garden of delights!

Unbelievable
I was looking for something peaceful that traveled through the senses effortlessly and created joyful feelings - this is it! He said in the headline "What would roses sound like if they could sing?" Right on here, this is it...

Therapy
Listening to Blossoms is great therapy for the everyday commuter. The stress of corporate America along with the anxiety of road rage is enough to damage anyone’s spirit. Merrill’s music delivers an ocean of soft sounds in my truck, taking me away from the fast passed hustle & bustle that lies just outside every morning. Her music calms my mind and body allowing me to start my day on the right foot. I am the proud owner of Blossoms and Gentille. Her music is inspiring, comforting and soothing. This is just the type of music we all need in this busy world.

"The music is like a warm, comforting hug."
The music is like a warm comforting hug.I use it in my classroom for meditation and my students adore it.

Welcome your ears
Welcome your ears to this spacious acoustic package: flutes, poetry, dewy roses. Talks with nature about itself,
the flow of water and the truth that even as we watch it go
by, really nothing changes.

Perfection
I own all of Merrill's recordings, and she surpasses herself with each new one; I play them until they wear out and are replaced! (I also give them as gifts, which are invariably appreciated by the recipients). Merrill is an incredibly talented musician and artist, and I cannot recommend "Blossoms" highly enough for its artistry and musicianship.

Blossoms is a masterpiece of subtle beauty
This CD is one of the most beautiful presents I have ever received. Its graceful movement inspires thoughts of opening petals and gentle waterfalls. Its uniqueness lays in its almost mystical ability to enable quiet contemplation while communicating a rich underlying tonal percussion. It is a perfect friend at work. Definately makes writing legal briefs on a Saturday much, much easier. Also - the flower photographs accompanying the CD are exquisite. Buy it.
