ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Everybody's Everybody is a children's world musical composed by Merrill Collins. It is an ideal musical for children to dramatize as an expression of service-learning. Performances are recommended to be set up as benefits for non-profit agencies that serve children. The story focuses on the situations of children in Africa, and the empathetic responses of children elsewhere on the planet who want to help. Educational materials also focus on the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The musical instrumental soundtracks performed by the Spiralingua Ensemble are wonderful listening for those who enjoy mixtures of world instruments. The album includes African Drummer Pope Flyne on Congas, Djembe, and Talking Drums; Chris Ray Collins on Dumbec and Bongos; Charles Moselle on Bansuri Flutes, Dijirido and Sax; Joseph Hebert on Cello; Merrill Collins on piano, rainstick and bells; and guest artist Tim Witter on Tabla. The soundtrack includes lyrical as well as dance-score pieces.

The musical originated in 1985 as a benefit for hungry children in Africa. Children at the Oakland CA YMCA afterschool program raised $750 in ticket sales which they contributed to KRON TV Airlift to Africa. A free perusal copy of the script is available at http://www.spiralingmusic.com/books.html
