ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Traditional Jewish folk songs... Instrumental Surf Music... WHO KNEW?

Ask any big Hollywood macher, and they'll tell you - it's the latest craze with the boychiks and maydeles. The parting of the Red Sea and the curl of the Banzai Pipeline. The sands of the Sinai and the waves at Waikiki. The Diamond District and Diamond Head. The songs of the Jews and the sound of the surf guitar!

Grab your surfboard, a bobby-pin for your yarmulke, and pack a lunch. Don't forget sunscreen. The whole mishpuchah will be there, to kibitz, to nosh, and to dance the hora at the MESHUGGA BEACH PARTY!!!

Meshugga Beach Party brings together many favorite Jewish melodies with the fun, retro-cool sounds of surf music. The band puts on an exciting, high energy live show - dressed like rabbis, synchronized dance moves, the “dead joke scrolls” – it’s surfin’ shtick at it’s finest. The band features guitars, piano, organ, bass and drums, and the occasional holler for good measure.

Meshugga Beach Party has been playing around the Bay Area since 2003 at clubs and festivals, including shows at AT&T Park and The Bay to Breakers. Live performances of the band have also been a hit on the web, with their “Hava Nagila /Misirlou” clip garnering over 100,000 viewings on sites like YouTube and Yahoo video.

These guys are superb musicians and they aren't novelizing their brand of surf music set to the traditional songs. The perfect surf wedding band!

Michael Koltan

Even better than their first CD
The first CD was done by Mel all himself (with the aid of two different drummers), but this one is played by a real band - and you hear it. Especially the keyboard parts have improved vastly; also the arrangements: the interplay between guitars and keyboard is just marvelous. Don't make a mistake: Although this is a lot of fun and the stage costumes are outright silly, this is serious music superbly played, not just some novelty you are tired of after listening to it three or four times. You won't regret buying this cd!

LEGENDARY!
This album is so is so amazingly cooooool...it's CRYOGENIC! It is worth buying, just to see the reverse of the album cover alone. Quite simply, this album is a "Semitically Surreal" MASTERPIECE!! Oy Gevalt...All I need to do now, is find me a surf board that's KOSHER!!;o)
