I am a SAG/AFTRA actress from Long Island, New York who has worked professionally for the past 25 years in theatre, television, and film. I've had principal roles in independent films, commercials, infomercials, and voice-overs. I currently costar on a public access TV program called “HIT OR MISS VARIETY SHOW” airing weekly on Long Island Cablevision and costar on a new TV pilot called "High Hopes" (trailers for both can be viewed on Youtube.) I studied at many acting schools, including: Herbert Berghoff Studio, Weist-Barron Studio, Video Associates, TVI, and Way Off Broadway. I'm a member of Screen Actors Guild; American Federation of Television & Radio Artists; GIAA; Society of Singers; Long Island Film/TV Foundation; and Filmmakers Connection.
As a professional singer and recording artist I sing genres from pop, jazz, and classic rock to musical theatre and cabaret. My most recent recording is a single song CD where I wrote both lyrics + music "There Are Angels." It is an Inspirational song about angels watching over us. With Frank Owens' brilliant arrangement we recorded this song with a live string orchestra. It won a songwriting contest given by the Minnesota Association of Christian Songwriters who then included it on their compilation CD "Songs Your Mother Should Hear" which was sent to missions worldwide. I previously released "Cheryl Metrick: Fantasy & Romance" which is a CD of one of my NYC cabaret shows, a combination of Contemporary Adult Pop, Old Standards, & Musical Theatre. I entertained at many of the New York Catskill Mountain Resort Hotels and performed in many clubs, charitable events, and industrials in NYC and the tri-state area.
The following is a review of the live performance of "FANTASY & ROMANCE" at Eighty Eight's, a New York City cabaret:
"Cheryl Metrick...from the way she took command of that stage you would swear she'd been here before. Whether it be Rodgers and Hart's "Where or When" in a slow waltz, or the pairing of "Somewhere" with "Somewhere Out There" everything was right in place and her body language, connecting with the audience, was first-rate. Her material was a mixture; Nat King Cole's "Unforgettable" and "Nature Boy" waxed Metrick nostalgic, while "Smile" written by Charlie Chaplin was inspirational. Not to mention the beautiful "Rainbow Medley" with "Over the Rainbow", "Rainbow Connection", "Look to the Rainbow", and "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows". She was just as at home with the hilarious "Beethoven Chased by Rossini", with lyrics by Garrison Keillor, sung as if she were a cat. She was in great company on the stage with Frank Owens on piano, Conrad Adderly on bass, and Peter Grant on drums. No doubt that she'll be back - watch for Cheryl Metrick! Spirituality is high on my list of interests and I have a Facebook page called Cheryl Metrick: THERE ARE ANGELS dedicated to my There Are Angels CD and to angels in general. It quickly gained a large worldwide fan base. I am presently collaborating on a book with Jeree Wade, M.A., a life coach and fellow singer. The book, titled "On the Wings of Inspiration," is based on a collection of my drawings and poems and the premise of the book is exploring your inner life through interpretive symbols. It will be published by Xlibris by the fall of 2010.
