Stories Such As These

by Mia Zuniga

Slick, but above all, soulful R&B: polish without pretense, barefoot and pretty, like the girl in the cover photo. Love Music, the name of the Pittsburg native's record label, is a perfect fit, for Stories Such as These is a total pleasure.

Album Notes
"I've been singing since I was three, but I've loved music since before I can even remember." -Mia Zuniga...At three years old, acoustic-soul songstress Mia Zuniga had already been singing along to tunes on the radio while sitting in the back of her mother's car. By the time she reached the age of nine, she had already begun writing her own songs. A classically trained vocalist, a then seventeen year old Zuniga began training with highly touted voice instructors Silvester Henderson (UC Berkeley) and Pamela Brooks. Despite such an early musical background, it was not until 2002 that the East Bay Area native picked up a guitar, a gift from her uncle, and within three weeks, she became the rhythm guitarist for her christian college group. In 2004 while attending Los Medanos College, she met and began working closely with local songwriter/producers David Tam and Adam Frakes. "We were working on various other projects and asked Mia to come in and help us with backing vocals on a track. Moments into the session, we discovered that Mia was much more than just a session vocalist," says Tam. The chemistry they shared sparked the motivation to begin recording Zuniga's forthcoming solo album debut, STORIES SUCH AS THESE. It is an honest self portrait that reflects Mia Zuniga's thoughts on family, her experiences with love, and her faith in God by blending various musical styles that include Soul, R&B, Rock and Gospel, giving the collection of songs a sound of its own.

Mia Zuniga Review
Stories Such As These is one of the best written albums ive heard in a long time, lyrically and musically. This first album is a huge step into the music industry for the atists/producers in my opinion. "Between The Lines" is amazing.

Simply Beautiful Music.

It's Incredible!
This has to be one of my favorite albums of 2007 bar none. Mia's voice is so smooth and hauntingly good paired with the music, I usually get lost in it and fail to hear her beautiful lyrics. This is great music you need to hear.

an album of quality
never heard of mia zuniga before... but my soul and my ears were missing to hear such quality music for years... i really would like to thank to mia and all who made this happen. i just wish for some of those music editors to write and introduce her to the world. i also wish many radio stations will play her songs. just because of a very simple reason..which is quality music. quality in acoustic soul. there is not even one song which is not good. all work is done by believing and feeling this truth. it is obvious that there is a beautiful brave heart. i wish you all the best mia...good luck. tarik.

Soulful R&B indeed! This is a throwback album for fans of true soul. "Rise" is my favorite pick.
