ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This Trio Improvisation date felt so comfortable and relaxed with Michael Bocian, Carmen Castaldi and I, that the music just flowed! My earliest recording experience was on Michael’s brilliant “For This Gift” in the early 1980’s, released on Gunther Schuller’s GunMar Records. In a way, this music some 30 years later is an extension of that collaborative attitude and the long history among us allowed for a collective openness to the songs we each brought. For this date, we found a unique vibe for my tune “Dust”, which I had recorded previously with the great Mal Waldron on piano. I loved singing their originals, too, and I hope you enjoy the connections and directions we take in the music together! JS
