ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Michael Bonanno recorded six CDs and, in 2006, began submitting them to CD Baby.

Michael plays every instrument and provides every vocal in most of the songs on those CDs. He did not and still does not have the money to afford to record his songs in a professional recording studio, which, consequently would have provided him with a professional engineer. So the music is not only home grown, it’s home engineered and home recorded.

If you listened to his music after he first released it, you no doubt found it hard to believe that this artist does everything himself.

Therefore, it’s a must that you listen to the rereleases of his CDs. It’s a must because you’ll no doubt be amazed what has resulted from Michael’s learning more about the mixing and recording software that’s on the market today. If you found it difficult to believe that Michael’s songs weren’t professionally recorded after their initial releases, you’ll find the rereleases sensational! This is especially true if you’ve been waiting for new music to satisfy your passion for the kind of songs that were popular during the late sixties and early seventies!

In Left Where I Write On, Michael celebrates the different genres that made up the music of those days.

In “Knock Yourself Out”, Michael brings back the sound of Motown. “A Long Way From Home” and “If You’re Hurt (I’m Sorry)” are Beatleesque, while “Back Into My Head” is a song that was directly inspired by the writing of John Lennon.

Don’t be surprisied if “Colony Road” brings thoughts of Billy Joel to your mind.

A very long but unique song, “Children Of God” draws attention to the paradox of those who on the one hand profess to follow the words of the “good books”, such as the Quran and the Bible, while at the same time cheer death and destruction, as long as they happen to “the other guys”.

Songs on Left Where I Write On may bring back memories, but they are also proof that music is dynamic and artists like Michael Bonanno haven’t been afraid to travel through the years side by side with their eclectic talent!
