Elder Michael Eldridge Thornton, is a highly gifted and anointed Psalmist. His music comes from the love and passion that he has in his heart for Jesus Christ.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thornton, Sr. in New Orleans, his early life was marked with great difficulty as he suffered through the death of both of his parents during his teenage years and later the death of his aunt and uncle who subsequently raised him. No one but the Lord sustained him through this challenging season in his life. Rev. Charles and Thirawer Duplessis who he affectionately refers to as "Mom" and "Dad" stepped in to provide him the warmth and comfort of a loving family. This family unit added to him a host of sisters, to which he now refers to himself as "the only son and brother."
Through all of this, God was preparing him for the purpose for which he was created; a life of service and ministry dedicated to praise and worship. At the age of 12 he was introduced to what he refers to as his musical family, the Youth Inspirational Choir (YICI) directed by Rev. Lois Dejean. Michael Eldridge traveled extensively throughout the USA and abroad with this dynamic six-generation family group "The Johnson Extension."
Professionally, Michael Eldridge faithfully served in several directorship roles including Minister of Worship, for the Full Gospel C.O.G.I.C. He also served as Minister of Music for one of the largest Full Gospel Churches in the United States, the New Home Full Gospel Baptist Church with a congregation of over 15,000 under the pastoral leadership of Prophet Robert C. Blakes, Sr. Additionally, from 2002 to 2010 he served as the Minister of Music for New Life Anointed Ministries in Woodbridge, Virginia under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Eugene Reeves. His responsibilities included overseeing all of the musical elements of the worship services which included the incorporation of 5 choirs, 2 praise teams and two instrumental bands.
Michael Eldridge has been acknowledged for being instrumental in laying the foundation for the introduction of "Praise and Worship" in the New Orleans area. He was honored and recognized as a "Trail Blazer" and "Trend Setter" by the New Orleans "Gospel is Alive" organization of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation.
His freshman recording project was released in 2004 and is entitled "All the Glory" it was produced by Min. CD Porter and features many anointed songs such as "All the Glory", "What the King Has declared" and "How Can I Say Thank You". He is currently working on a new project, "When Praises Go Up" which is being produced by Richard Davis of Perfect Pitch Studios and is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2013.
Michael Eldridge is married to the love of his life, Elder Sharon Stewart-Thornton of New Orleans, Louisiana. They were united in Holy matrimony on February 9, 2002 by Bishop Eugene Reeves. Together they are the parents of six children.
Michael Eldridge is a worshiper in its purest sense. He loves God and seeks always to please and honor Him and it is from this desire from the depths of his soul that songs overflow.

"First up was Michael "Eldridge" Thornton. Thornton, who said he’d been singing in the choir since he was 12, introduced the crowd to his New Orleans flavored zydeco style of worship. Radio show host Brother Reggie, after hearing Thornton sing, said he would play his music on his station."
