Album Notes
Michael Fell and His So-Called Friends -
Highly sought-after Los Angeles blues harmonica man (taught by jazz organist legend Jimmy Smith, who he still performs with today), Michael brings Chicago-driven West Coast style blues to this CD, staffed by the best blues sidemen in Los Angeles. His "So-Called Friends" feature a searing vocal by Marcy Levy (she co-wrote "Lay Down Sally" with Eric Clapton), and former William Clark sidemen John Marx and Rick Reed who provide the guitar and bass that drives the groove. Three drummers check in, Brian Head, Asmus Jenson and Michael Partlow, filling out the 12-cuts. Keyboard is in the capable hands of Rob Van, and yet another bassist Ted Kamp also provides a vocal.
The whole package was recorded live at BB Chung King's Dawghouse Studios, and BB also contributes a vocal.
The entire collaboration was the result of the So-Called Friend's eight years of hosting the Monday Night Jam Sessions at Cozy's Blues Club in Sherman Oaks, in the San Fernando Valley.
PS - John Marx and BB Chung King also have product available at CD Baby.

State of the Art in Contemporary and Traditional Blues Harp
Finally, a CD showcasing Michael Fell at his finest. Michael Fell is the state of the art in contemporary and traditional blues harp. You need not search any further. Michael has what you need and gives it up in this very satisfying release. His so-called friends happen to be the best in the business, and they collaborate here to catapult Michael to previously unimaginable heights. Hey, don't take my word for it - just give it a listen.

Damn Mike you're thowin' down wit' some bad ass cats bro.
Good job bro ! ! ! A noble fist solo effort and good production value. It's not overproduced as many blues records nowadays are. You stick to the BLUES script. For those blues fans who like harmonica Blues GET THIS CD ! ! !

Keep Up the good work Mike and if you ever need a singer to front your show or guest on you next CD you know who to call = ^ ),

Hard driving harmonica, great blues cuts.
I was looking for a good blues harmonica artist and I found it (or should say stumbled onto it.) I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys good blues music and especially to those who appreciate the blues harmonica. Michael Fell does an excellent job on this CD an I'd be interested in accumulating more of his music.

This is a great CD. I love the modern twists on the blues and I will be looking forward to his next CD to purchase.
