Album Notes
The Pickin's Are Slim album consists of 11 original songs and it features many talented up and coming Memphis musicians including: Khari Wynn ( Public Enemy, Back Sliders, Energy Disciples); Michaela Catlin; Hope Clayborn ( Soul Scrimmage); Tiffany Harmon (Other Stories); Nashon Benford ( The Dawls, Lucero); Daniel Anderson ( Whose Army); Shelby Baldock ( Soul Scrimmage); and Melvin Turner and Tim Stanek. The mixes are based on retro 60's music - when recording consoles didn't have panning pots. When mixing in stereo, there’s an option of putting each instrument or vocal in left, right or center position. As a result, it creates a very classic sound that has been used by The Beatles, Percy Mayfield, Simon & Garfunkel, and more recent artists like Lenny Kravitz, Ray LaMontagne, and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings.
