ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Casual fans of music and musicians alike will enjoy ‘Latin Journey’. Nine timeless and accessible melodies are skillfully interpreted by bassist Michael Kraft, Grammy-nominated pianist Dana Landry and world-renowned drummer Daniel Messina. Three of the nine tracks are fresh, new arrangements of memorable songs by Jazz legends Charlie Haden, Bill Frisell and Chuck Mangione. In his September 2008 review of the CD, Chip Boaz of the Latin Jazz Corner wrote “Kraft proves to be a strong composer, and his pieces provide a defined artistic shape to the album.” Boaz added - “Kraft, Landry, and Messina stand as an effective and interesting trio on 'Latin Journey', displaying artistry on many levels. They show all the best qualities of experienced trio musicians - they provide equal amounts of leadership and support, they listen and interact, and they trust each other enough to explore interesting artistic possibilities. It’s a classic picture of a complementary group of musicians.”
Boaz summarized his in-depth review with the following statements.“Kraft emerges as an intelligent composer on several tracks, skillfully weaving his knowledge of Latin styles with lush jazz harmonies. Kraft, Landry, and Messina display many fine qualities of a Latin Jazz trio on 'Latin Journey', leaving us with a vivid impression of three confident, professional, and creative artists.”
