Album Notes
The Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band is an exciting group of young women from up and down the west coast of Canada and The United States. These six dynamic females are one of the hottest new bands to hit the jazz circuit! The group ranges stylistically from hot new orleans to early swing, powered by strong ensemble playing, inventive soloists, and of course that female touch. Be prepared for something different. Smart and sassy jazz at its best!

This is our third CD. It was recorded December 2-3, 2007 at Rock Beach Recording Studio in White Rock, BC Canada, (www.rockbeachrecording.com).

Bria Skonberg – trumpet and vocals
Claire McKenna – clarinet, alto sax and vocals
Emily Asher – trombone and vocals
Shannon Thue – piano and vocals
Georgia Korba – bass
Beth Goodfellow – drums

Special Guest: Josh Roberts on banjo

These girs are GREAT! MARVELLOUS!
I wish I could afford to cross the Atrlantic ocean and the American continent and listen to them live.

What A Little Moonlight Can Do
Have all three of Mighty Aphrodite's albums. Got the first two at the 2007 Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee (MLJJ) where we first heard them and fell in love with their talent and music. So glad I made that purchase as they've not been able to attend the MLJJ in 2008 and 2009 - keep requesting the organizers bring them back. The latest album is phenomenal - the vocals are outstanding. I particularly enjoy the vocals on the title's song. Keep them coming! Thanks much for gifting the world with the joy of your jazz!

What a Little Moonlight Can Do
This is a wonderful recording by an up-and-coming band (for those who are not familiar with M/A) and the title track is not only my favorite but apparently their most requested tune...the harmony among the young ladies is terrific. I heard them record the song at the 2006 Arizona Classic Jazz Festival but had to wait to this album to be released to hear it again. You won't go wrong with this band...or its latest recording!
