ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Mike plays the guitar like a Byrd. His strings do things that mine could never do. they obey the slightest finger-touch commands like a fine Reining Horse"
- Friend, Ramblin' Jack Elliot

"Mike's plowing new ground. He's not re-recording the old Hollywood matinee music from the 30's and 40's. You've got to have focus and keep producing good stuff. I think he walks that... He's better than all those newer western guys. -Ian Tyson

"Mike is one of those with the cowboy in his heart. These songs are filled with braided rawhide and mission bells... Listen up friend"

More music from the heart
Beck is unbelievable in Rooted. These are amazing lyrics coupled with fantastic guitar. Amanda Come Home is a song about someone in Iraq. I can tell you as someone who has been there and was wounded in Baquba, Iraq--he gets the very feelings I felt, fear, anger and frustration. Want to know about Iraq? Listen to Amanda. And then, Listen to Oildale and you will know real musical humor. This is an excellent CD that I'm glad I bought. I can't say that all the time! I heard him live in Monterey and had to have the disc.
