ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Let The River Run" is a re-release of a CD recorded in 1995 by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Mike Hutchens. It covers a lot of ground stylistically including rock, pop,R&B and smooth jazz. This CD is full of songs that appeal to a broad base but with songwriting integrity intact. With great guitar work and soulful vocals this is a unique blending of ideas that you will enjoy listening to over and over.
Here are a few highlights from Mike's career so far:

Mike started playing guitar in 1964 and performed all over Southwest Virginia doing every kind of gig imaginable.
After moving to Nashville in 1973 he met Stan Hemphill(LITTLE RICHARD) )and they formed the"Afro Space Boogie Band" and performed at the Exit In.

In 1975 Mike met ALLEN WOODY (ALLMAN BROTHERS and GOV'T MULE). Along with TONY CROW (LAMBCHOP, Silver Jews) they formed the Instrumental Jazz Fusion Band "MONTAGE."

They later added drummer JOHN MOSS (BAREFOOT JERRY). Tony and Mike were the principle composers for this incredibly talented and interesting band. They performed all over and opened up for "THE DIXIE DREGS" in Chattanooga.

From this point Mike played with lot's of different artists including: 50's and 60's hitmakers "THE VOGUES", slide guitar legend "MAC GAYDEN", Spice Davis of the hit R&B group "SHALIMAR", experimental rock group "THE NEON BUSHMAN", Austin legend the fabulous "TONI PRICE",country star "RONNIE DOVE", pop group "SKYLINE" and vocalsit extraodinaire "MICHAEL PARIS".

In 1984 Mike played lead guitar for Ex-KISS rocker PETER CRISS'S band "THE ALLIANCE".They toured as a headliner and also shared the bill with bands including RATT, EDDIE MONEY,The ATLANTA RYTHM SECTION, GREG ALLMAN BAND and ALCATRAZ (featuring Yngwvie Malmsteen).

In 1986 Mike composed the material, sang lead and played guitar for the pop-rock group "MIND OVER MATTER". This band featured top notch musicians including bassist BRIAN PUGH (AURA), drummer DAVID CHANDLER,Keyboard player JIM KIRBY (ROY ORBISON) and multi-instrumentalist,vocalist Scott Wilson. They released one album, "Crazy"(1990,now available on CD Baby)with the release party at The Cannery and opened up for "THE ARTIMUS PYLE BAND".

In the early 90's Mike played guitar with ALLEN WOODY at his only bass guitar clinic in this area. Allen was with the Allman Brothers at the time and had just released his instructional video. He also wrote and produced "Let The River Run".

In 2005 Mike performed "Dust In The Wind" with JOHN ELEFANTE(KANSAS).Currently he is performing with the BB Jazz Quartet and writing and producing several new projects in Nashville.
