Our Story:

In 2007 we were commissioned by the Northwest Film Forum in Seattle to compose an original score to the film masterpiece "The Adventures of Prince Achmed" which we performed live during their Children's Film Festival in 2008 and 2009.
We have recorded the score in the studio using only the instruments we use in live performance - resonator guitar, accordion, viola, banjo, slide whistle and percussion.
Since performing in Seattle we have taken our score to the St. Louis Art Museum, the Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema and the Woodford Folk Festival in Australia.

About the Film:
When THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED premiered in Germany on September 23, 1926 it was hailed as the first full-length animated film -- made by Lotte Reiniger using the silhouette technique she invented. Eighty-two years later, this enchanting film still stands as one of the great classics of animation -- beautiful, mesmerizing and utterly seductive. Taken from The Arabian Nights, the film tells the story of a wicked sorcerer who tricks Prince Achmed into mounting a magical flying horse and sends the rider off on a flight to his death. But the prince foils the magician's plan, and soars headlong into a series of wondrous adventures. Thrilling, sensuous and dazzling, Prince Achmed will enthrall children and film enthusiasts of all ages.

a review:
“ We saw this performance last year and it was one of the most exciting, breathtaking and inventive partnerships of music and film that we’ve ever seen. Seattle Twist gives Adventures of Prince Achmed a rave review!”
