ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
AS HEARD ON GARRISON KEILLOR'S "A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION"

The duo’s plaintive, sweet melodies will draw you in and linger like the cheap cologne of a traveling Bible salesman. This debut was recorded and mixed by John Keane (R.E.M., Uncle Tupelo) in Athens, GA and features the talents of ex-Whiskeytown-er Caitlin Cary and Thad Cockrell, Railroad Earth, Sally Van Meter, the Persuasions' Jerry Lawson and Burrito Brother and all-around session player Al Perkins.

"From the first to the final, each cut is strong enough to take a bow on it's own. An intriguing package of songs from a formidable duo. Recommended". ~SING OUT MAGAZINE

"THIS ALBUM IS JUST A GEM" ~Bob Harris on BBC Radio 2

"This is imaginative, quality Americana that deserves to do well on the radio charts, both Americana and mainstream country" ~
AMERICANA ROOTS

"The Milroys are an inspiring duo ...They always make us feel like we have work to do. We gladly steal their ideas when we can!" ~
STACEY EARLE & MARK STUART

"At a time when "Americana" has become a nebulous, catch-all label, the Milroys clarify things for puzzled music fans. This is Americana as it was meant to be played and heard." ~ DETROIT FREE PRESS

~Twila Oxley-Price, Ann Arbor's CURRENT MAGAZINE

RALPH McLEAN, "McLEAN'S COUNTRY" on BBC RADIO ULSTER & BBC RADIO FOYLE

"C.J. Milroy has a touch of Nanci Griffith’s innocence about her" ~ AMERICANA UK

The Milroys are another in the long line of country duets ...George & Tammy, Gram & Emmylou... but that would not tell the full story at all. ~WWW.NETRHYTHMS.CO.UK

"The epitome of pure Americana in the classic storytelling tradition." ~ WWW.AMERICANAHOMEPLACE.COM

"If I had a porch, rather than a back yard in the North of England, this would be my soundtrack of choice to nod along to in my rocking chair."

Can't stop playing this CD!
Knew CJ when she was young, and remember what a sweet voice she had. When I saw this album, I had to give it a try. I never dreamed how much I would love it!

Great CD!
Don't generally listen to C&W, but the samples lured me; I loved My Favorite Heartache just as much as I'm Not Goin' to the Jailhouse, opposite ends of the scale. Got to hear more of these folks, the sound is wonderful!

"The Milroy's sweet songs of love, death and righting wrongs on the murky backroads of Americana are like going to a flea market and getting a great deal on an old guitar".

Fantastic Music And Vocals. Superb Quality Production CD.

The Milroys ought to be Top Ten!!
This gorgeous album features 10 memorable songs all written by CJ and John Milroy. It kicks off with My Favorite Heartache, which already sounds like a standard. The central songs--Silver Bullet, The Good News Gospel Hour (from Tangerine Trousers days), and the rockabilly I'm Not Going to the Jailhouse over You--are the highlight of the album. CJ's vocals are absorbing, as are John's, and the backup is superb. Just get it now! It represents the best music out there today.

The Milroys
I was listening to "Prairie Home Companion" and stopped in my tracks when I heard "My Favorite Heartache." The blended voices of CJ and John took my breath away.
