When you say "Mimi" think of the joy in you.
Mimi's first full length CD “Thank you, Merci” (2007) Canadian jazz vocalist, Mimi Snider, invites local favourites Russ Botten, Tony Foster, Joe Poole and Tom Colclough to feature W.C. Handy’s tribute to New Orleans “Chantez-Les-Bas (Sing’ Em Low)” and several Randy Weston compositions (recorded at Riverside Recording Studio 2005, 2006, with Dwayne Harder Recording Engineer). This is a live (few edits) high energy recording with arrangements created by Russ Botten and Tony Foster as a tribute to the musicians of New Orleans as a thank you to the birth of jazz (Photo by Ute Rée).
CD Review on Ejazznews.com by Edward Blanco
“...another Canadian songbird that sings her way into your heart with a gem of a recording...leaving one heck of an impression...beginning with the light and jazzy standard “Hi Fly,” Mimi soars heavenly, propelled by the first of many outstanding piano solos from Foster. She turns south on the samba- shaded “Summer Samba,” singing in teasing fashion with sensuous lyrics...from a listener’s perspective I would have to say the music and her smooth velvet voice left me quite pleased. So I have to say to Mimi, “Thank You, Merci,” for one fine album.”
