The history of MOB RESEARCH is closely connected to the tragic death of their bassist Paul Raven (Killing Joke, Prong, Ministry) who formed the band together with Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission, Peter Murphy) in 2007.
Warrior Soul front man Kory Clarke and ex-Queens Of The Stone Age drummer Nick Lucero completed the line-up. Shortly after finishing the recordings for their debut album HOLY CITY ZOO Paul Raven died, so the completion of the album was delayed until 2009.
The album was mixed by Tim Palmer and others. Palmer had also been in charge for the last HIM albums. The result is dirty industrial-rock, which shows what can be expected from those artists.
Some might say that the songs on the album sound like a mixture between Ministry and Killing Joke, but with Kory Clarke’s snotty voice and Mark G. Thwaite’s sophisticated guitars they do sound different. The remixes (Sin-Daddy, etc ) do mirror Mob Research’s own style. The remixes are amazing versions of the songs and much fun to listen to.
