Now... And Again

by Mod Fun

Hard hitting Garage Psych Pop, with a Retro-Modified twist (think The Jam meets Hives or The Who meets Killers.) This 20-song Double Album ($10.) proves that Mod Fun are back, and the 80's meet the 00's with a aggressive-yet-melodic vengeance.

Album Notes
For their first release of the 21st Century, MOD FUN deliver a hard-hitting combination of new material and classic remakes with their “Now... And Again” double album.

“Now…” features 10 powerful new tracks showcasing the band’s
flair for high-energy retro-modified-pop. “And Again” – follows with 10 more new recordings that revisit fave MOD FUN hits from the band’s 80’s vinyl catalogue.

This 20-song (!) Release is "A Must-Own" for all fans of 60's UK Psych/Pop (Creation, Eyes, Action, Syd's Floyd, Who, Kinks, Beatles) & 80/90's Mod/Pop (Jam, Oasis, Blur, Clash, Knack) and the new breed of UK New Wave (Kaiser Chiefs, Bloc Party, Artic Monkeys)

This Is London!
Mod Fun along with Manual Scan are probably my favourite 2 acts to emerge from the US Mod scene of the 80s. While Manual Scan's sound was more power pop sounding Mod Fun leaned more towards 60s garage/psych.

Anyway, Mod Fun are back with a new 20 track album 'Now ... And Again'. The title comes from the fact that of the twenty tracks the first 10 are brand new recordings while the next 10 are re-recordins of old tracks which includes a live version of 'I Believe' recorded at CBGB.

Mod Fun's sound is like a cross between Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd, The Creation, The Jam and also a little bit of Modern Life Is Rubbish era Blur thrown in for good measure. Of the new songs the stand out ones for me are 'Andy Warhol', 'Oh So Much', 'In The Moment' and the cover of Manual Scan's 'Nothing Can Be Everything'. I'm told that the cover of 'Nothing Can Be Everything' is from an unreleased tribute album to Manual Scan and The Shambles frontman Bart Mendoza. I just hope that one day this tribute will see the light of day having also heard The Eddies and Afterglow's covers from the same album. As for 'Now ... And Again' what can I say apart from Mick London's new songs are even better this time around. $10 for a 20 track album? What are you waiting for? Order a copy today!

Ridiculously talented
This CD is the kind of find that will have made all of your youthful record-buying efforts feel worthwhile - great production, and some tremendous songs. Mod fun is pure pop talent, and though no song here is as classic as their "open Your Eyes," the updated version of "I Fell" is just about as good as any song you are going to hear. $10? A steal.
