Monkeys In Love met at a rave in a mental asylum. They are a hard band to pigeonhole, but you could say they sound like a canned-cocktail of junk shop glam, lead-footed library funk, early eighties British indie and sludge metal. Or something like that. They are a heavily visual band and incorporate puppetry, props and projection into their live act.
Monkeys In Love are based in Manchester, UK and are looking to tour from March 2013. Their music has been played on BBC Radio Manchester, ALL FM, Salford City Radio and Preston FM. They have also been guests on London based art station Resonance FM among others. Their first album Death Jeans was released in February 2012 and their second album, The Monkeys In Love Will Pet & Cuddle You, was released on 4 March 2013.
"Like the B52s, but through a mangle." Ian Moss, Kill Pretty
“It’s 70’s Glam Rock, Electric Folk, Punk, Post Punk, 60’s Garage, French Electro Pop all wrapped up in a ball, pushed down the stairs and stamped on. A magical journey indeed, plus it made me stroke my dog…almost too much.” Tony Thornborough, Salford City Radio
"Every track I've heard so far is so different to the last. Exciting stuff." West Coast Sick Line Fan Club
"They have an infectious line in pulsating lo-fi electropop of which their self-description as a drunk Stereolab is actually not inaccurate." Cath Aubergine, Manchester Music
