Vincent Montana, Jr., 'Disco Pioneer' and creator of The Salsoul Orchestra penned and produced such classics as "Runaway, Salsoul Hustle and It's Good For The Soul" to name a few. Among the many credits to his name, he is also known as one of the key components of 'The Philadelphia Sound' as MFSB rhythm section member and session man for Philadelphia International Records.
Montana's own label, Philly Sound Works began with the release of the instrumental single "Heavy Vibes" which was inspired by the simple fact that the Vibraharp is so heavy to cart around. Mixed by Izzy Sanchez, this catchy track scored Montana a top ten club hit in '82, yet is still being sought out by DJs today for its awesome groove and striking vibe solo.
This remarkable follow-up LP displays Montana's various musical hats. With scaled down rhythmic club classics, to full orchestral compositions, Latin ballads and even a bit of jazz - this is one of Montana's most flavorful productions.
"Heavy Vibes" by The Montana Orchestra features Philadelphia's most prominent musicians; many of Montana's session mates who were the main members of both the MFSB and The Salsoul Orchestra.
