great stuff
I've been listening to Chris Moore since the Crossed Wire days in Detroit, and he has evolved into one of the country's best, yet under-appreciated, singers/songwriters. With the Moore + Sons line up here on New and Cruel, the band has put together a solid mix of songs that seems to touch simultaneously on old Detroit soul and modern Tom Waits ("Silent Vows), a hint of Robyn Hitchcock in "Prescription Book," and "Junk to Begin With," which is all Moore. If you don't know Moore's music, this is a great introduction. But be warned: It can get addicting ....
