One Man Party
After my corporate gig, I was on the verge of becoming a lawn equipment tester in Mexico when I saw the following ad in the Rock Star School newspaper:
Wanted: One Man Party For Beer And Liquor Sales. Must play acoustical guitar and sing. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years experience hanging out in bars, preferably on or near the water. A high tolerance for tequila, beer and rum is a plus. A high tolerance for bawdy and outrageous behavior is necessary. Must be able to work while craziness surrounds you. Must be willing to immerse into the experience and write interesting and descriptive songs with pleasing melodies, catchy lyrics, and a beat that is easy to dance to. Long-haired freaky people need not apply.
I answered the ad, aced the interview and the rest is history. It was that simple and you can do it, too. Thanks for being a part of my one man party all these years. It was, and still is, my pleasure to watch you act crazy. I’ve always said that you are the show. I’m just the facilitator. Dave Murphy says hello.
