“Wake Up Robot!” is a collection of songs, tested in libraries and preschools, that get kids up and moving, laughing, dancing, and singing along. Each song is an adventure—either in movement or in story. And all of them uplift the listener, either by simply being catchy and fun, or with a positive message. With creative twists on old classics (“If you’re happy and You know it” becomes “If You’re a Robot and You Know it”) and inspiring originals like “You Did it,” Musical Robot leaves you with a smile.
This album was produced and recorded by Scott Leftridge, (Washington Street Studios), and mastered by Matt Baxter (Baxter Ranch Recording) Baxter and Leftridge both consider the album a work of originality and imagination, a breath of fresh air for children’s music. The songs already have the approval of families who heard them in local libraries and preschools where the duo has performed. And teachers who have tested the songs in their classrooms report that their kids have an instant and abiding love for them. While Musical Robot's live show is complete simplicity, a ukulele, a snare drum and a call to action, the album expands the duo’s sonic landscape, incorporating all kinds of instruments and sounds. The live show has garnered applause already, and the recorded songs have gotten groups of kids smiling and dancing already. If their enthusiasm is any indication, the album will be expanding Musical Robot’s audience exponentially.
Musical Robot consists of Jason Adair and Scott Namanny, who, after graduating from Placer High School, cut their teeth performing for kids in everything from full-cast plays to puppet shows, locally, and all over the state. In addition to their experience in the trenches, Jason has a degree in theater from Sac State, and Scott teaches Music and French to all ages at local schools. “Wake Up Robot!” is the culmination of what they have learned from and about children.
