Following the smash success, Sing Sing Sing, Brian has released his new and exciting CD, Can You Dance?! Songs cross many genres and will have you on your feet dancing the day away. Much like Brian's live concerts, Can You Dance? is an interactive compilation of songs that are loaded with actions and dance moves.
In addition to being a fun and exciting CD, Can You Dance? is also an educational CD. Brian has worked closely with his wife Susan to craft songs that assist with the development of literacy, numeracy, cognitive, physical and social skills. Some examples include:
•When the Band Begins to Play and Old George Black – introduce children to various musical instruments and the sounds they make.
•Count to Twenty – is an upbeat dance song that promotes numbers, fractions and counting using fingers.
•Find a Colour – helps children with associations between the natural world and colour concepts.
•Dance All Day Long and Can You Dance? – support physical activity and the development of gross motor skills through easy to follow dance moves and actions.
•A Month and a Day and The Woods – involve sequential storytelling and imagination.
•I Like to Smile and My Friend – stress social constructs that children are eager to understand but do not always get exposure to on a daily basis.
Like many musicians, I like to include traditional songs that audiences are familiar with. Continuing with the educational undertones, Can You Dance? includes:
•Apples and Bananas – a wonderful song that reviews vowel sounds.
•Old MacDonald Had a Farm – a classic children’s song that draws relationships between animal names and sounds.
All together, we hope we have created a CD that children enjoy listening to again and again and that parents consider helpful in the development of their children.
