ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Electro-Funk No Wave Hip-Hop Compilation contains twelve of the illest, rawest underground tracks from Chicago, Hudson County (New Jersey) and New Orleans.

We are electro-pop/hip-hop act, Mad Happy (Rivka and Mike iLL) and we put this together to turn our fans on to some of our favorite acts, most of whom we hooked up with through hundreds of "DIY" style gigs and parties around the eastern half of the US. Two things these tracks all have in common are fun, intelligent lyrics, and raw, funky beats and bass lines.

We first met MC Trachiotomy and El Tonios at a bi-sexually oriented club in New Orleans, swimming naked and drinking something, when Trach had put together a last minute show with us and The White Bitch. Their tracks are dirty, funky and fun as hell. Always a party when these two are involved.

Zef Noi$e (Psychic TV, Firewater) and Kill Audio are old friends of Mike iLL and their music combines elements of Jamaican/English Dub, Hip-Hop and Industrial music. They operate a studio known as the Space Station, home to numerous experimental/underground music parties in Newark, New Jersey.

The JaGoFF has been holdin' down the Chicago Electro-Funk fort for the last few years, and when we first heard his shit we were strait up blown away. We're real psyched he and his crew dig us too. Look out for his on the Warped tour again this year.

Mad Happy - We tour all the time with our MC-505 Groovebox: Communication, good times and shakin' yo' greasy ass.

Tiana Hux we first played with in Austin, TX at a place called the Escapist Bookstore, run by a couple of women, one of whom used to be a human cannonball.Tianas' tracks combine hip-hop style lyricism that bridges partying with serious issues with bizarre melodies and an extremely magnetic, surly voice.

Serengeti is simply the rawest, funniest hip-hop artist you'll hear. You just can't burn out on his beats, vocal timbre and off the cuff lyrics.

Pick up a copy of the CD if you like P-Funk, Peaches, Bootsy, Anticon, Schoolly D, MF Doom, George Clinton, Le Tigre, Larry Tee, Cex, Grand Buffet, Goldchains and Sue Cie, EPMD or any of that raw, low dirty bass funk and witty lyricism.

Stranded In Stereo

damn fine
In my experience, everything that Mike Ill lays his hands to is righteous.

Grisel

Delicious, nasty and meant to jiggle your brain and bootie!
I love the CD! The beats are bumpin' and the words are packed with sarcastic punch. This is the reason why DIY will always be better than mass-produced brain-dead baby candy. This CD is for people who expect to be titillated with a sexy cocktail of witty sonic wisdom.
