Album Notes
With contributions from top notch artists around the globe, Mystikos Quintet's "Refidelity" offers imaginative remixes of some of their biggest hits, along with a few surprises thrown in. Styles galore are represented on this fine compilation. House, electro, Latin, hip hop, chill out, lounge, drum n bass; they're all represented in fine fashion here. The album kicks off with Kaiton Slusher's electro-ambient reworking of "Fem Blanc," lead-off track from last year's "Wup Bup." 2DeepPeoples, house mavens from Italy, follow with a deep, deep remix of a previously unreleased track, "Fire, Keep on Burning." Machsymbiont, rhythm master from Seattle, puts his stamp on "Safe Passage." Track number 4 also comes from Italy, courtesy of Big Mojo, whose 2008 smash album, "Ready Made," has been shaking hips world wide ever since its release. He puts his signature house style on "Bring Me What Ya Got For Me." Joe Harvey comes in at number 5 with a scintillating hip hop version of "Wup Bup," title track from last year's MQ release. Danny Massure, beatmaker and remixer extraordinaire, resurrects "Cabra Asa" from the very first MQ album. Kenny Dickensen (AKA Additives & Preservatives), multi-instrumentalist in K.T. Tunstall's band, puts a big time disco spin on "I Can Give You Good Lovin' Baby." Grey Granite is an up and coming hip hop artist out of Indianapolis. His distinctive electro/hip hop style sets him apart from his peers. Here, the MQ crew put a drum n bass spin on this hit, "Off Safety." Tracks 9 and 10 come from the Watusi Brothers, the collective alter ego of MQ's G.Rode and K.Hodges. They rework "Here I Come," from 2007's "The Second Record Album," and do a spooky touch up of MQ's all time best seller, 2006's "Easy Listening." On track 11, MQ repays Big Mojo with a floor thumping rendition of "Hoodoo Jive," from his "Ready Made" album. Emilio Galiacho (AKA Bar Man) comes from Spain, and delivers a mind altering take on "The Revelator." "Refidelity" concludes with Dave Owens' phenomenal drum n bass treatment of the originally chilled out, "Midnight Herb."
