ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Nada Lewis is a warm and passionate musician in love with the music she plays. A multi-instrumentalist hailing from Stockton, CA, she has played and sung since she was a child.
"Life is too short to listen to any music you're not crazy about," she will tell you. "There is so much beauty out there! Don't let anything keep you from getting it. If you are a musician, play only what you play from the hear."
Nada graduated with degree in psychology from the University of California in Berkeley.
Nada's main instrument at this time is accordion. She also sings, plays bouzouki, guitar, tzimbl micr (small cimbalom), Turkish saz, various sized tambourines, dumbek, tupan (percussion), various wind instruments, jawharp, and keyboards.
She has been a founding member of several klezmer and Balkan folk music bands in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a contributing member of several more. Some of these are: Silver String Macedonian Band, Klezmorim, Troika Balalaikas, Balkan Pacific, Hatsegana, Taverna, and Panacea
She is most moved by minor keys, and pure majors. Her favorite flavor is licorice, and her favorite color green. She is an Aquarius on the Capricorn cusp. She lives in El Sobrante, CA

Hot, Sweet & Wild: Nada Lewis gives accordian playing a good name
I first heard Nada Lewis's cd Hot, Sweet & Wild being played as background music at a pot luck gathering of folk musicians and dancers. As I sat eating I found myself entranced by the beautiful sounds of Nada's accordian accompanied by a variety of accomplished instrumentalists. Her title really does describe the music. Her playing is very clean and smooth and pleasant to listen too. Her choices of music encompass a variety of styles and rhythms from many nations. Some fast, others slow so you never get bored or burnt out. The other instruments include hammered dulcimer, tuba, clarinet, and 20+ more. I really have enjoyed this album

I'm hooked.
This girl can really play accordion. She's chosen some awesome songs for this too! I was at a friend's house last night and my friend said "you gotta hear this song!" It was #11: "Lustige Chassidm". I'm hooked.
