Album Notes
Nathan Brown is a rising young talent on upright bass in Chicago's jazz scene. He has studied under the tutelage of renowned bassist Rodney Whitaker. As a sideman, Nathan works with Chicago musicians such as Marquis Hill, Milton Suggs, Vincent Davis, Rajiv Halim, Isaiah Spencer, and Kevin Nabors. Nathan Has also worked with internationally famous musicians such as Frank Morgan, Wess “Warmdaddy” Anderson, Paquito D’Rivera, Don Braden, Lewis Nash, Wycliffe Gordon, Derrick Gardner, Vincent Gardner, John Faddis, Carl Allen, Willie Pickens, Russell Gunn, Ron and Cecil Bridgewater, Fareed Haque, Randy Brecker, Brian Lynch, and many others. As a band leader, Nathan is releasing his first album, "Luminescent". The album features stelar performances from the likes of Wess "Warmdaddy" Anderson on alto saxophone, Marquis Hill on trumpet, Rajiv Halim on alto saxophone, Ross Margitza on piano, Willerm Delisfort on piano, and Xavier Breaker on drums. "Luminescent" is heavaly influenced by great hard bop masters such as Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and Cannonball Adderley. It is a hard swinging, hard boping, and blues filled musical journey with a modern sensibility.
