"Fade Away, My Sweet Horizon" is a collection of our favourite Nathan Gaunt tracks. Why do we say "our"? Because we know that NG fans are a fickle lot, and often request the strangest rarities, b-sides, and "how did you get hold of that?" songs at gigs. So a "best of" would be entirely a subjective term for this album.
No, this collection of songs is for the newcomer. The newbie. The noob and proud of it! It is a chronological order of works from 2001-2009 that are all particularly TOP SHELF from the Nathan Gaunt songbook. It is heavily based around his highly awarded recorded acoustic work so far, and is a nice gentle introduction to the works of an artist still unafraid of pushing the boundaries of what he can do musically.
Seriously, we dare anyone to put the beautifully orchestral "Chiaroscuro" back to back with alt/country "Blue Skies for Miles" and actually wonder why mainstream success has avoided him.
And why, from an artistic viewpoint, that is not such a bad thing. Lets face it, most music sucks today. This however, doesn't. Touch magic and pass it on. Enjoy.
