Album Notes
Newly formed indie group NeedlePlay is the brainchild of Dean Pelley, a musician in his teens who later put it all up on a shelf to chase a new dream of entrepreneurship. After a 14 years of owning and operating an international company, Dean has returned to the world of music, taking all of his experiences gained in international business world to craft songs that speak to chasing dreams and staying in the race. Weaving together influences from the classic rock of the 70s and 80’s (CCR, Tragically Hip, Rolling Stones, Tom Petty) with today’s alternative rock and blues rock (Black Keys and Foo Fighters), with a sprinkling of southern rock (Zac Brown Band); Dean’s songs have a raw edgy guitar rock sound uniquely blended with his Johnny Cash baritone vocal style. The debut EP album, Singles, provides a balanced offering of three hard driving rock songs with two melodic ballads. The album opens with Ticket to Hell and Groove On, both up-tempo songs with lots of guitar fuzz distortion and a driving beat, accessible to listeners old and young who like that classic rock sound. The ballad, Leaving Vegas, tells the story of broken dreams and trying to start again, delivered in a more southern country rock mood. Next, is a song written in the late 80’s, I Got It Made, again brings on the guitars and a hint of the punk rock style of day. The final song, My Yesterday, puts Dean’s vocals out in front, accompanied only by a piano and cello and backup singer.

While NeedlePlay is currently only an internet music project, there are some talks of expanding the band members and getting some gigs booked to further promote the album and provide the opportunity for fans hear the songs live.
