2003 Nick moved to New York City to study with the likes of Eddie Henderson, Billy Harper, Charles Tolliver, and Rachel Z at New School University. He quickly created a name for himself while performing at clubs like the Zinc Bar, Sweet Rhythm, the Jazz Gallery and many others. Moving from band to band as a sideman Nick has honed his skill and was recognized and was selected to be part of a special group honoring Woody Shaw and his music (The Brass Knights).
“Passageway is all of my courant experiences put on one disc.” Nick has been molding his new quintet since 2007, featuring some the freshest young musicians on the scene. The Nick Roseboro Quintet features Travis Reuter on guitar, Jarod Kashkin on piano, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Rogério Boccato on drums. ‘Passageway’ is mostly Nick Roseboro original compositions but his covers are original in style.
Nick’s fresh sound is not only original but refreshing. His compositions ad arrangements are a breath of fresh air to anyone looking for something new and different. From the opening bass line and layered drumming of “Relentless Motion” to the Wayne Shorter influenced “Excerpt From Flagships” you will be engaged with beautiful sounds from all aspects of jazz. Nick Roseboro’s song titles reflect the atmosphere of these well put together pieces of musical art, and give a window to the creative mind of this young gifted trumpeter.
