Born 1955, Nicky Lewin was a press photographer for around twenty years, later becoming a photo/journalist. Winning many awards he was twice voted London & Northern Home Counties Press Photographer of the Year and also twice voted Humanitarian Photographer of the Year in the United States.
His many foreign assignments in Africa included eight visits to D.R.Congo between 1994 to 2006. Nicky's life long love of music has led him to compose his first symphony 'Congo'. This is a very different form of story telling from photography but for Nicky is the fulfilment of a long held ambition.
He is particularly influenced by the great Russian composer Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky. However, growing up in England during the great explosion of creativity in art in the sixties, his influences are wide and varied.
Nicky now makes his living playing the Spanish Guitar in restaurants and cafe's and also teaching.
