ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"The Bear Stands Alone" (TBSA) is Nolan Anderson's 2000 solo instrumental release and a treat for his loyal fans. This collection of original songs encompasses a wide variety of musical styles and influences from Chicago Blues to pickin' n grinnin' to poignant solo guitar. Having played throughout the Pacific Northwest in such bands as Connections, Bad Bones and the Big Haired Girl, Vagabonds and now with Mad Andersons Acoustic Trio, Nolan has been a fixture on the Seattle music scene for many years. With this re-release of "The Bear Stands Alone," new audiences will get to hear what his fans have known all along: Nolan is a musician's musician.

TBSA is in a class by itself. It spans several genres yet provides a smooth listening experience. Evocative and emotional, ranging from joy to a sense of loss (with a brief side trip into the ridiculous) TBSA never fails to delight on all levels.

From an Amazon Reviewer:

With today's plethora of ear candy, The Bear Stands Alone (TBSA) is like a breath of fresh air for the musical soul. With its eclectic infusion of musical styles, TBSA provides a listening experience that not only entertains and relaxes, but also touches you on an emotional level.

The varied listening experience also appeals to a broader range audience than most offerings today. At a recent family gathering, TBSA was enjoyed as much by my 3-year old as it was by my 79-year old grandmother.

Refreshing, fun, thoughtful, poignant - TBSA is all of these things and more. Mr. Anderson has certainly proved himself more than capable in this, his first solo venture. (Amazon Reviewer)
