about Nori Ochiai

Considered by many to be a fine modern jazz pianist, Nori Ochiai worked regularly as both a leader and sideman in local clubs in Tokyo where he was born and raised.  He also did arranging for numerous pop artists, film scores and worked as a cellist for music studios, as well.

Nori moved to New York in 2005 and attended The New School University Jazz and Contemporary Music Program.
He has performed in many of New York City’s top jazz venues including The Knickerbocker Bar and Grill, Sweet Rhythm, Cleopatra's Needle, Garage Restaurant & Cafe, St. Nick's Pub, Cachaca Jazz, Arturo's, Sugar Bar, Hiro Ballroom, The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the Forest Hills Art Festival.

Currently he performs with various bands and singers as well as his own group in New York.

Great Music from a Serious Artist
Although many have heard (and enjoyed) Nori Ochiai perform either with his own group or as a sideman with others, this CD will certainly introduce the rest of the world to this marvelous musician's gift. This CD captures the creativity and skills of this pianist who has become more and more in demand by both the musicians and listeners who are serious about great music, especially when it comes to jazz! Although there are many great pianists in NYC (and the rest of the world), only a few can embrace the audience with their approach, sensitivity and vision; Mr. Ochiai (fortunately) falls into this small and important group of musicians!
