Album Notes
Cool jazz. Images of the early days on the West Coast when new ideas, harmonies, ensemble playing and great improvisation were all happening. Recreating and updating that experience is the mission of Octobop. Performing and promoting the music that began with The Birth of the Cool -- and the innovations of Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers, Bud Shank, Bob Cooper, Dave Pell, Jimmy Guiffre, and Howard Rumsey among others -- Octobop makes cool jazz hot again.

The tracks and their composers are:
Rocker - Gerry Mulligan
Walkin' Shoes - Gerry Mulligan
Night Lights - Gerry Mulligan
Blue Mist - Marty Paich
Jazz Goes To Siwash - Bill Holman
Cotton Blossom - Bud Shank
Jazz Wagner - Shorty Rogers
Minor Yours - Art Pepper
Prom to Prom - Dave Pell and Marty Paich
Girl Talk - Bobby Troup and Neil Hefti
Jeru - Gerry Mulligan
Short Stop - Shorty Rogers

Arrangements on Walkin Shoes, Night Lights, Cotton Blossom, Minor Yours, Girl Talk, and Short Stop are by Geoff Roach.
Mullligan's arrangements on Rocker and Jeru were adapted for this group by Geoff Roach.
The other arrangements are by the composers.
