Album Notes
These guys are getting funkier all the time -- and have issued a killer second album that's even better than the first! The set's got a warm, wonderful, California jazz funk feel -- a rich blend of Latin and soul instrumental styles, played in modes that recall classic work by the JBs, El Chicano, and War -- but updated nicely, with a fresh, young, underground feel. The group have definitely got their instrumental chops honed well on the set -- as they've been playing together for years in the CA underground, and slide together with ease as a rich ensemble outfitted with guitar, trumpet, saxes, keyboards, and percussion -- plus some very nice use of loops and soundbits from time to time. Titles include "New Afro", "Brothers & Sisters", "Operation Get Down", "Hot Sake", "Arroz Con Gandules", and "Doble O".

one word

If you like it thick spicy & funky...
Get out your cuisinart toss in some Liquid Soul, Malo, Groove Collective, War, Brooklyn Funk Essentials and the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band set it on high and prepare yourself for a thick, spicy, funky stew. Close your eyes and relish that early 70's blaxploitation feel while cruising in your low-rider. If Arroz Con Gandules doesn't make you want to get down, get funky, get back up again your better check your pulse amigo.

very nice "happy" music
this kind of music let you forget the trouble of daily life greatly unknown in the netherlands. Good combination of different styles of jazz, worldmusic and funk.
