Oratnitza

by Oratnitza

Oratnitza's mission is to interpret Bulgarian traditional songs in a way which our generation can truly embrace. Oratnitza is a blend of forgotten folk melodies, distant aboriginal themes, hip hop, dubstep, D'n'B and irregular rhythms.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The name Oratnitza refers to a ritual cleansing by fire, performed before ‘Shrovetide’. The style is even more unusual - a mixture of Bulgarian folklore, Aboriginal motifs (executed on didgeridoo), dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass and orthodox chanting. The trancy, sweeping rhythms of their music invite the audience on a collective musical voyage. Until the present day there hasn't been a single occasion on which people didn't intuitively start dancing the traditional Horo !

Oratnitza is: Ivan Gospodinov aka "Popa" (vocals), Georgi Marinov aka "Horhe" (didgeridoo), Petar Yordanov "Buny" (tupan, cajon), Hristiyan Georgiev (kaval, vocals)

Simply WOW!
I am in love with the music of Oratnitza. Their preservence of the authentic Bulgarian folklore and the fusion with modern rhytms is AMAZING. A very nice combo I might say! Definitely recommend this album and I sure am looking forward to the future works of Oratnitza. :)

Great Songs and performance!
I love this album and Oratnitza performance. I love it!

Awesome!
Guys, I just want to say keep up the good work! I love your take on Bulgarian folklore music and I hope to see more of it coming my way :) Special thanks to the didgeridoo player, as his "baseline"(?) makes me enjoy Oratnitza so much more!
Наслука!
