Beautiful sound of original pulsating dance beats with very melodic vocal overtones and nostalgic renditions of some of the wonderful Ghanaian old school classic hi-life songs. Evergreen!!

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hi-Life is an African music genre that originates from Ghana. It takes it's roots from Western Jazz as a result of past colonial music influence in Ghana. Hence with the combination of Ghana's own local and traditional cultural music and Jazz, Hi-Life was created. Despite the dialectical lyrical contents, Hi-Life demonstrates a music tapestry that provides easy and pleasant listening accessibility world wide. Unique in her musical projection, Ghanaian Hi-Life music has also influenced and generated very wide African audience. This music effect indeed gave birth to the late Fela Kuti's famous Afro Beat after the music legend's residency in Ghana in the early 1960's. In truth, Hi-Life music is also the platform on which today's wave of modern West African mainstream dance music styles such as Hip Life, Afro-beat and Azonto have all been built. As one would find, Hi-Life exposes some of the colours and strands that can easily be associated with traditional music styles of the Carribean Islands; bringing into view- the historic musical links between Africa and the South Americas.

In an era when Ghanaian Hi-Life music seems to be obscured and ambiguous in it's modern commercial performance and presentation by Ghana's new generation of music aspirants, Paapa Jeh realises the importance of reviving this very heart and soul of Ghana's bedrock of her contemporary and mainstream commercial music - Hi-Life - in it's originality!! He provides the audience with wonderful renditions and originals of classic hi-life songs that is sure to appeal to all generations of music lovers. Springing from the west coast of Ghana, the infectiously pulsating downbeat rhythms and grooves are sure to fill all party dance floors. Have a great coastal vibe!!!
