ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
" One of the best recent guitar-led sessions!" - JazzTimes

"A highly talented and woefully undersung player" - GuitarPlayer

"No-nonsense straight ahead guitar, clearly his own man" - Jazz News
- "Stix" Leonard

"Papaila stands poised to join the first rank of recorded jazz guitarists of the 90''s." - Willard Jenkins

" Beautifully Cohesive, Just the right amount of soulful intensity!"
- CompuServe Jazz Beat Forum

"A fine CD for lovers of jazz guitar" - Just Jazz Guitar

"Papaila makes his own statements, a very tasty mix."
- San Diego Union

"Evocative of the late Wes Montgomery." - Leonard Feather

"Beautiful musical articulation and sonic warmth." - Jazz News
- Jim Merod

"Papaila's bluesy blowing is convincing. In his book, swing, phrasing, round tone, and ensemble interaction apparently come before technical displays. As one bit of jazz wisdom goes, you spend years learning all you can, and devote the rest of the time deciding what to leave out, Papaila has done just that." - JazzTimes

"It doesn't get much better than this, a must-own" -SLAMM

"Papaila has definitely done his homework, ... paid his dues. - Cadence

"Compares favorably to Montgomery and early Benson"
- San Diego Reader

"The same graceful propulsion that marked Montgomery's playing."
- Denver Post

"I'd say an interesting guitarist has appeared!" - Jazz Life

"Papaila provided the most honestly soulful and creative guitar sounds at the Winter Park festival." - Rocky Mountain News

" One of the finest jazz musicians to come out of San Diego in recent history." - Sacramento News & Review

"Positively Impressive!" - San Diego Union

One of the best all-time great straight ahead jazz CDs
Dan Papaila is a creative and in-the-pocket jazz guitarist. One of the highlights of this recording is the playing of the late bassist, Andy Simpkins. This is a must have recording for any jazz guitar enthusiast.

Nice, easy, cool.
Nice, easy listening. Yet, enough life to keep your foot tapping.
