'Hey You' was written by Parker on an acoustic guitar at ten years of age. Over the following two years, he continued to refine the verse lyrics, but the chorus lyrics have always remained the same.
'Hey You' was recorded and mixed at Bear Creek Studio near Seattle Washington by producer Ryan Hadlock during October 2012. Mastering was done on November 16, 2012 by Greg Calbi, Senior Mastering Engineer at Sterling Sound of New York City.
A self-taught guitarist and pianist, Parker began writing lyrics and music on a family guitar at the age of nine. His combined vocal and song-writing talent did not go unnoticed and he soon gained many performance opportunities near his home-town on Vancouver Island.
In the summer of 2011, Parker became one of the top six finalists in the Canadian reality show 'The Next Star'. There Parker co-wrote 'It Might Be You' with Canadian pop/R&B artist Shawn Desman who produced the song for the show. 'It Might Be You' was subsequently released by Warner Music Canada in September 2011. On a Toronto morning television show, Shawn Desman introduced Parker as being "like Bieber, but more organic."
The digital release of the singles 'Hey You' and 'Angel Inside of You' is the debut of Parker's original material.
