Seemingly overnight, Patti Rothberg (multigenre vocalist, songwriter, and musician) and Dave Greenberg (songwriter, musician, and producer extraordinaire) achieved the kind of worldwide success one could only dream of. Their critically acclaimed EMI Records debut release Between the 1 and the 9 was an instant hit and remains a timeless classic. It was Greenberg's melodic pop sensibility and record production, and Rothberg's edgy rock 'n roll lyrics and songwriting that were the backbone of this magical recording (which sold over 450,000 copies worldwide). In support of the album, Patti performed a multi-city tour of the U.S. and Europe, had a top 25 Billboard radio hit Inside, produced two MTV music videos in the U.S. and Canada, played on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman, and shared stages with Chris Isaak, The Wallflowers, Pat Benetar, No Doubt, Paul Westerberg, Midnight Oil, and more!
Dave and Patti have reunited yet again to record magic on this 2011 grassroots independent release Overnight Sensation. Patti has poured her melodic and lyrical spin over Dave’s pop / dance tracks creating something distinctively unique. During the process, Patti brought some of her new rock songs to the table for Dave to produce. The process was so natural, as if no time had passed. They even called in Adrian Harpham (the drummer on Between the 1 & 9) to recreate some of the original chemistry. The result is better than ever. Vocally, Patti channels Teri Nunn (Berlin), Rhianna, Stevie Nicks, Olivia Newton John, Julianna Hatfield and even 70’s disco era Mick Jagger. In addition, Pretenders, The Beatles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Velvet Underground are all given a wink and a nod. True to the team's respective roots, Dave and Patti's flavors have created a new sensational signature sound. It's mastered by the legendary Herb Powers Jr., (who has mastered Mariah Carey, Lauren Hill, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys to name a few).
Whatever your musical passion, Overnight Sensation dares to show how even in shuffle mode, these songs hold their own. The first 5 tracks can be blasted loud in the club (or on your iPod), while the second half tells scintillating stories against irresistible hooks which are reminiscent of the undeniably infectious melodies and raw and intelligent lyrics that put Patti on the charts. Look out for club remixes due this spring.
