ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Paul Scott Rock is the result of a long road traveled by the artist . These songs were composed from experiences and ideas garnered over many years. I began writing songs at a very tender age and spent some 30 years developing my technique. Composing music is a very complex process that you must understand intimately in order to be able to take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself in the process. I believe that these songs exited before I wrote them. I feel like I know where to find them, how to find them and that I understand what they are when I do discover them. Like a spiritual archeologist I know where to look and how to uncover every detail that exists in this piece of art. While I am the creator of these compositions, I do not take credit for their existence.
A musician must devote their entire existence to the art in order to earn the right to extract beauty from the air and bring it to life that can be shared. I did not invent a melody. No person will ever invent a melody. Melodies exist for our consumption. Like a smorgasborg of sounds, the composer chooses the ingredients ,uncovers the hidden secrets of their interactions and smooths out or fluffs up the result to suit whatever statement the music is making. That is how I approach the art of composing music. Some parts fit easily. Others must be custom fit.
My music reflects my own frustrations and conquests in life. I write in the style of the artists who influenced me. Artists like Steppenwolf, Robin Trower, Hendrix, and the artist they drew from long ago. The great composers from early days of blues / rock music in the deep south and the alleys of NYC and smoky barrooms in Chicago. Where the guitar became the most important instrument in the genre. Where the bass drum filled the room with a pace to be reckoned with. The bass guitar filled the room with a smooth easy feeling that wraps around you like a soft blanket. This music is friendly music. Like a friendly grizzly bear in your house .
