Jingle Bells

by Peter Apel

This high-energy, fun-filled version of the traditional tune will make you feel great. Starting with a driving guitar riff, the song rapidly adds drums, vocals, horns, and kids' voices, and even has a guest appearance by Santa Claus!

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
From Peter's Blog...
As part of my kids' show performances, I've been invited to help at some occasional holiday sing-alongs, and this Jingle Bells arrangement evolved starting with some of those events. This song was recorded on the morning of Christmas Eve 2008 when I was supposed to be helping clean the house. It is the "rough-cut" version, favoring "energy" over "accuracy." It turns out "Fred Pinsocket Recording Studio" was somewhat out of order that day, and I didn't take too many precautions to guard against external noise artifacts, distortion, sound levels, and such. Oh...then my stereo microphone setup got messed up, so I was bouncing from left to right tracks; then I couldn't activate my effects window on the master track; then I was getting a sharp pain in my eye every time I took a drink of my iced tea, so I asked the doctor about it, and he said, "Next time, before you drink, take the spoon out of the glass."

...then I ran out of time and couldn't fix the questionable drum fills, because guests were coming over for Christmas Eve dinner, and I was in charge of the mashed potatoes.

Anyhow, the idea was not for an error-free work of art; it was to capture the energy and spirit of the version we sing around the house (and at the sing-alongs), and to share with friends like you. I know there are thousands of versions of "Jingle Bells" out there. I hope you enjoy this one.
