I would like to thank my wife for her never ending love and support, my mentor Seleno Clarke for his knowledge and inspiration, Peter and Dolores Shaulinski, Nathan Lucas, Max and Etta Lucas, Fred McFarlane, Darryl James, Michael Howell, Wayne Henderson, Wayne Cobham, Bill Easley, Melvin Sparks, and to all to the living legends and unsung heroes
that still have so much to teach us all.

Peter Valera embraces the horn-driven,
honest-to-god rhythm and blues mastered by
such greats as Louis Jordan, Illinois Jacquet, and
living legend, Big Jay McNeely. Valera’s show
embraces this with plenty of crowd
pleasing attitude, all cooked up in a red hot stew of
and blues and swing. Jump blues according to
“tenor powerhouse” Peter Valera, is a soulful down
to earth music that will get out of your seat and
keep you on your feet.

Peter Valera plays the saxophone from his heart and soul. He “makes the horn speak”…communicating a wide range of musical emotions and experiences. Peter gives his all for performances that are unforgettable. As a composer, bandleader, and educator; his unique style is a synthesis of the swingin’ sounds of early jazz and the soulful grooves of rhythm and blues.
When he first heard the saxophone in elementary school, Peter knew that music was his calling. Throughout his life, he learned to appreciate all types of music. He has learned to express his passion through Jazz, Classical, Latin Jazz, Funk, Soul, Pop, R&B and Blues to name a few. No matter what genre of music he plays, he brings his audience on a musical journey with him.
His philosophy is that music is lifelong journey and it is not about where you end up, but how and why you got there. Because Peter composes music from his life experiences, he is able to blend artistic and commercial aspects of song writing into engaging compositions.
Peter’s passion for music is undeniable. He gets the audience jumpin’, shoutin’ and dancin' in the streets. When you come to one of his shows, you will leave with a smile on your face!
