Clan Destin play a new genre of music : universon, a musical celebration of the multi-ethnic world we live in.
KOMAN I LÉ LA
Koman i lé la, was composed by Pierre Chabrèle & Nicolas Guéret in December 1987 while on tour on Reunion Island with Force One, a Zouk band from Paris whose members originate from Martinique. It was recorded in April 1994 at Musédit Studio in Paris and finished at NG Studio in January 2013.
Koman i lé la is a spiritual song through which Chabrèle aims to raise collective consciousness throughout the world, declaring there is a single God for our planet, one God who is worshipped under different names in different religions. God gave us one sun and one moon which shed light day and night over all the inhabitants on Earth. Koman i lé la means “Hello, how are you?” and also asks “Which side are you on? Truth or Lies? Lies or truth?”, “Are you honest or are you a hypocrite?”, “What do you personally do to improve society? The Planet?” Make your choice quick.
The musical style is “ Chouval bwa”, a traditional Martinican rhythm which originates from the hills to where the fugitive slaves (nègres marrons) escaped during the colonial period. Chabrèle can trace his own roots back to the "nègres maroons".
Koman i lé la features Jaade singing in Créole with a jubilant multi-lingual chorus including Chinese, Greek and Arabic.
