Album Notes
BIO for The Pillagers

The Pillagers are Buffalo's newest supergroup. Formed in the summer of 2008, The Pillagers have over 50 years of combined professional music experience amongst them.

The group made their debut in August 2008 at the Town Ballroom for the "Feed the City" Benefit Concert for Buffalo City Mission with Bruce Hornsby, where they were an instant success. They crowd reaction, attendance and rave reviews lead to a slot at "Rockin' at the Knox" with the B-52's and a sold out gig with Willie Nile at the legendary Lafayette Tap Room.

The Pillagers lineup includes local guitar god, Patrick Kane (The Elements/The Stains, Mirror, Mirror, Paisley Tease, the 7th Sons, and John & Mary and the Valkyries), Bob Rich III (Daloris, This is Now), David Bowling (Hayshaker Jones, The Whiskey Daredevils), Jerry Augustyniak (10,000 Maniacs), and Gary Zoldos (The Hiwatts, The Method and The 7th Sons).

The Pillagers are currently working on their debut CD, “Extended Play”, produced by Marc Hunt (Goo Goo Dolls) and will be touring the UK in January 2010.

Review from a 2010 Gig in Preston, England:

Buffalo's - self-styled 'Supergroup' - The Pillagers rolled into the Mad Ferret in Preston, last night and thrilled the small exclusive audience with a blinding set of classic American rock and roll. 28/1/2010. Preston, UK.

The rock veterns led by lead singer Gary Zoldos and the guitar brilliance of Patrick J. Kane rocked the crowd with a great set of classic American rock.

With 10,000 Maniacs Jerry Augustyniak playing brilliantly on the drum kit, 'The Pillagers' found a new set of fans with the songs 'Shameless' and 'Thrilled To Death'.

The Pillagers Deliver the Goods on "Extended Play"
CD Review- By Bob Silvestri-

The Pillagers-Extended Play-

Hot on the heels of a very successful tour of the United Kingdom, The Pillagers have released their debut CD titled "Extended Play", a seven song exercise in old school rock and roll. The band is as close to being called a super group as you can get. Featuring a line up of stalwarts of the local music scene, each of the members has been playing in a variety of bands before coming together as The Pillagers. Consisting of Gary Zoldos on vocals, Patrick Kane on guitar, David Bowling on rhythm guitar, Bob Rich III on bass and Jerry Augustyniak on drums their individual talents all mesh together as one for a sturdy muscular sound missing from most of today’s music. Kane produced the disc and wrote all the tracks here with help from Zoldos on three of them. The esteemed Marc Hunt mixed and engineered the CD and adds some killer Hammond B3 organ to one track as well. While Kane’s outstanding guitar work and Zoldos’ vocals are featured prominently the solid rhythm guitar of Bowling allows Kane to play those lead riffs over the songs. Also the rhythm section of Augustyniak and Rich keep the beat as steady as a blacksmith banging his anvil. Rich also adds some smooth pop style harmonies to contrast Zoldos' more straight ahead rock approach.

The disc kicks off with “Vaguest” a track Zoldos wrote while in Las Vegas and deals with the misplaced notion that the city is the land of dreams and the future and the disassociation of human contact in today’s high tech world of computers, cell phones and those Vegas slot machines. “Thrilled to Death” features a doomsday guitar riff and is one of the highlights of the disc. “Happy Looking Glass” is an optimistic take on life thru the eyes of Zoldos that should be adopted by more people in the world. Killer organ from Hunt rounds this track out to perfection. The center piece of the disc is Zoldos’ ode to love “Desirae” about a mysterious woman who crosses paths with the writer. “Desirae” is also is a highlight of the band’s live set. Rounding out the disc is “I Don’t Know”, “More” and the instrumental guitar rave up “Shameless”. The disc is available at all the Pillagers gigs as well at or by contacting the band directly at You can also check them out on their web site The band is set for another tour of the United Kingdom in the fall of 2010 so get on The Pillagers bandwagon before it leaves the station.
