ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In the tradition of trailblazing bands like Pink Floyd, The Flaming Lips and Broken Social Scene, Los Angeles based rock band P L a N E T S has put together a debut album that plays like a soundtrack to an epic dark dream.  TheDarkWoods, an utterly unique record filled with cinematic landscapes, psychological terror, soaring musical compositions, and an obvious love for theatrics will be released just in time for Halloween at local record stores and through iTunes and Amazon on October 16, 2012.

Known for their theatrical live shows in Los Angeles, P L a N E T S, who originated in northwestern Montana in 2006, boldly bend the boundaries between rock band and theatre troupe.  A P L a N E T S show could be described as some sort of eerie garage-rock opera, featuring immersive atmospheres with dancers, actors and shadow puppetry coming at you from all directions, all in cahoots with the music.  Always basing their material around a place, P L a N E T S have turned their most recent live show, TheDarkWoods, into a full fledged concept rock album.

My Membranes are Insane
This album is incredible. It's lush, provoking, eerie and magical all at the same time. It makes my miracle tip stand and give an ovation.

Excitingly Spooky
I just listened to P L a N E T S' album, "The Dark Woods," an excitingly spooky piece of adventure-rock the likes of which neither I nor you, had or have ever heard before. It is an utterly unique record filled with cinematic landscapes, psychological terror, epic and soaring musical compositions, and hints of a love for theatrics--all things I love, and truthfully, could never imagine coming together so brilliantly as they have in this album. In fact, even calling it just an "album" seems unbefitting of what I felt it was while I was listening to it in a dark, silent room with scant light--the flame from a single candle. It was a rousing musical experience. It's more than a collection of songs that you just listen to (though you could certainly do that if you chose!) It's a ride and a journey for the listener, the kind of journey you'd want to take if only you had someone to go with you. 'Cause it's dark in those woods. P L a N E T S have created something more than an uncommonly special work of art: they've created a new, thrilling genre, one where melodies meet monsters and the two get along GREAT.

Worth every cent~!
When you experience this album, it is easy to get lost in some of your deepest thoughts and to be found in unexpected adventures; if you are lucky to return to yourself once the music has stopped, you are changed and ready for another listen.
